Resident Scholarship Program

MHA has money for your education!

The cost of furthering your education can seem overwhelming. Paying to attend college or a trade school is not as difficult as you may think! There are many, many resources available. The key is to PLAN AHEAD.

The Milledgeville Housing Authority (MHA) annually awards two $500 scholarships to deserving MHA residents who gain admission as first time entering freshman to Georgia College and State University, Georgia Military College, or Central Georgia Technical College. Scholarships are sent to the recipient’s choice of college or university in the name of the scholarship recipient.

Scholarship applicants must live in public housing operated by the Milledgeville Housing Authority (MHA). The Milledgeville Housing Authority Scholarship is awarded to selected college-eligible high school graduates or to scholarship applicants who have a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED). Applicants must submit a completed application for the MHA Scholarship; submit at least two letters of recommendation, with one letter being from a high school or GED program senior administrator, and; submit an official transcript from a regionally accredited high school showing graduation--or an official High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).

The Milledgeville Housing Authority decision to award scholarships will be based on availability of funds and upon the applicant’s eligibility to enter college, the applicant’s character and college-level potential as evidenced in letters of recommendation and other supporting information, the written essay submitted as part of the application, and as an outcome of an interview conducted with applicants by an MHA Scholarship Selection Committee.

Application Process

To be considered, applications must be submitted before 1 April of the year that scholarship applicants intend to enter college or university.
